Cask at the St Albans beer festival 2022. A dark mahogany brown coloured pour with Ruby red hues and a loose beige head. Aroma is mellow dark roasted malts, black liquorice, singed pine mild car,. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, rustic dark malts, sticky liquorice, singed pine, bark. Lingering woody roast. Palate is semi sweet, chewy hop, sticky, moderate cask condition. Good hoppy Porter.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt, piney hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, grassy, piney, light roasty, floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Very hoppy. The Cascade totally dominates. Cacao? I don’t think so. Nonetheless, tasty, but more like a black IPA.

5/7/2021. Cask at the Garden House, Norwich. Pours black with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma of jammy dark fruits, hop, roasted malt, chocolate, ash, liquorice. Moderate sweetness and medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft to flat carbonation. A Monday pint maybe beyond it’s weekend prime but still ok.

Hand-pulled half-pint at an Oakham Tap Takeover on 2nd July 2021 in The Anvil, Shifnal (Shropshire). Chocolate aroma and taste to this dark Porter, smooth tanned topping on the black body set it off nicely. Decent hop bite too.
