Ever had one of those imperial stouts where you could almost taste some liquorice, lingering, teasing in the background? Well, we have, but were never quite satisfied; left wanting, longing, for some of that sweet, black, sticky goodness. So we stopped beatin' the hell out of the sting and just stuck some good old liquorice root in.

This liquorice tattoo won’t go turning gun metal, or your tongue blue. And there is no need to reach for that Burma-Shave. No, this is a straight up, luxurious oatmeal stout but with a twist.

Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, fairly light and fairly dry, modest fine carbonation. A brief dark malt cream quickly gives way to licorice and plenty of it. Smooth but rich licorice, slightly savoury and very mildly bitter. That's about that. It finishes with more of the same. A pleasant licorice beer then but it's very one note.
