An amber coloured session bitter traditionally brewed using only the finest quality of Stonehenge Spring Water, barley, crystal and wheat malts, whole hops and the brewery’s own top-fermenting yeast. This session bitter is full-bodied and not so bitter, but rich in hop aroma which gives the beer a delightful aftertaste. The finish is slightly malty and fruity.

Hazy amber beer with an off white bubbly head. Sour fruit aroma. Flavour has a hit of the same but it does then peter out a little and is ultimately a touch on the watery side, though there’s a taste of citrus which lingers and leaves it drinkable if disappointing.

Cask at Pilgrim’s Progress (JDW), Bedford. Light copper, small but lively off-white head. Sulphurous, bready, metallic aroma. Hints of butter rum and apricot. Pleasant enough taste: light and bittersweet with less of the astringency than suggested in the aroma. Watery but refreshing palette. Reasonable.

Cask at Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a dim foam head. Faintly tangy malts in the nose with hints of berry fruits. Light sweet flavor with further tang, toasty dough, bitter leaves. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mildly sweet to finish with weak caramel, toast and light, leafy bitterness. Average beer in sub-par condition.

2nd Half pint at a beerfest in The George Inn, Eccleshall: gravity poured. Good hop feel to this, in both the smell and taste. Looked fine too, a full amber body with a topping of off-white foam for the head. Malts are around as well, this is an easy drinking, well balanced beer and well worth trying. Had again on 31st May 2026, in Montgomery Towers, Shrewsbury. Still a nice beer!

Hand pull cask, half pint at Barony Bar in Edinburgh. A slight haze to a golden coloured body. Bare naked on the surface. Modest, fresh smell of fruity hops along with malts beneath. Fresh fruity taste of peach and pineapple with a smooth malt-bitter twist to the finish. Easy to drink (detained by snowy weather in Edinburgh, 01.12.2010).

@ Volunteer Rifleman’s Arms, Bath. Bright amber. The aroma is a bit brassy, mixing in some diacetyl and caramel. Soft body, with mellow caramel character. Good balance.
