Brewed in the name of Willy Nilly the nosy postman made famous by Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood, this is a distinctive ruby ale with a traditional rich hop aroma, complemented with a fruity and more-ish finish.

The initial taste is fruit with an almost vanilla flavour though it finishes quite bitter.

Bottle. I tried this during the event which collected the public’s view of the shortlisted Welsh and west country beers for the Sainsbury’s beer festival, and was very surprised to see it appear in the shops. A ruddy brown, sweet and malty mess, with no redeeming features.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys Ashford. Clear ruby colour with no head. Brown malty aroma. Some vague fruit on aroma. Malty body and flavour with again some vague hedgerow fruits if you are being charitable. Rest is empty. Finish is a dirty earthyness which is not entirely pleasant. Not a great beer. Some fruit.
