Bottle from B&M Bargains; mahogany brown pour with velvety beige head, sweet stewed fruit aroma, quite sweet fruity taste, malts, a hint of grass, caramel, bitter finish, ABV present. Not bad.

Dark ruby brown colour. Aroma has some dried fruit and a touch of liquorice. Flavour has strong dark malts and sweet dried fruits. Quite rich and syrupy with light carbonation.

At a tasting, thanks kerenmk, small quickly dissapearing, head, quite clear brown colour, aroma of caramel ,dark bread, nuts and rum, flavour of dark bread, cola, and burned sugar. Very Heavy and not really good.

Bottle sample at a tasting at my place. Thanks kerenmk. Deep ruby red color. Aroma of dusty stale-tasting malt, some caramel and light fruity notes. Sweet malty and caramelly flavor, a bit sugary, with candy hints and light fruitiness. Medium-bodied.

Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, red-brown with a slender, beige foam head. Lots of dark berries and grapes in the aroma. Medium to big sweet flavor, mostly semi-ripe berries, grapes, plums, some rich bready malts, very light bitterness but really not much at all. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Very faint alcohol warmth to finish, some sticky and toasted sugars, hints of chocolate, more berries, grapes, cherries, plums, suggestions of toffee. I’m actually somewhat fond of this beer. It drinks pretty smoothly.

1977 vintage! - Pours murky dark brown with a small foamy head. Aroma of slightly sweetish malts, caramel, berries. Taste is smooth and malty with some mild hints of sweetness, caramel, syrup and raisins. Finish is smooth and sweetish with some malty notes. Okay, quite well aged beer.

Aroma has some raisins, cardboard and some moldy cellar. Flavour has some metal, moldy cellar, hints of raisins and sugar. Feels like most of the flavour bouquet is gone.

Brown bottle, 500ml, best before mid Dec 2007, drank 1st Feb 2007. Poured into two Corsendonk glasses, more for me, less for the wife. Ruby Red, almost port like in colour, but not as thick. Good tanned head, left for the rim of the glass fairly swiftly though. Plum or Christmas pudding in aroma, sweetness also comes through in waves. The taste is a bit too sweet for me, the Christmas fruits from the aroma come along, which only adds to the rich almost sickly flavour. Burnt caramel, and the Christmas feel give the sweetness to much leeway and the resultant mouthfeel is also too sweet for my liking. 7.6%, too sweet, but a half before bed, would not be a problem.

Bottle. Nice head with medium duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are dried fruits, rich malt, caramel, nuts and hops. Long sweet finish.
