Bottle from The Cave. Clear dark red colour, medium off-white head. Nose is sweet and slightly toasted malts, candy sugar, nutty, light sourness, bit alcoholic. Flavour is sweet malty upfront, bit of spices, followed by slight alcoholic tones, sour fruits. Slightly dry and fruity finish. Quite enjoyable.

Fruity aroma, not so much in the taste. The ale has a tangy dry finish to it.

Bottle from Humpers, Staple Hill. dark, ruddy brown with a short-lived, off-white head. Sweet, caramel, red berry fruit and candy sugar aroma. Flavour was a bit sugary, with a pasteurised edge some fruit fruit and warming alcohol finish. A bit industrial but still a good winter warmer.

Since I’m stuck on this ferry for the next 5 hours might as well rate stuff I normally wouldn’t even consider round these parts. Cola body, medium tan head. Fruity, slightly soapy malty nose, nice really. Slightly polleny and candyish. Light dull malty taste, the nice fruity (vague strawberry jam?) soapiness shows up again but the palate is thin and dry. Some light alcohol pops up... To be continued as it warms... Umm yeah. The tartness gets stronger and the alcohol too, though not terribly so. Gets slightly salty though. Dunno, hardly exciting but one can do far worse.

(bottle) Almost clear, amber colour with a copper shine and a dense mid-sized and tanned foamy head. Bready and slightly toasted malty aroma with caramel, vinous fruity and alcoholic notes. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toast-malty, slightly bready taste with caramel, subtle fruity notes of raisins; almost dry sweet-bitter malt-accented and slightly fruity finish with a tinge of alcohol. Likeable and warming brew. 19.IX.10

500ml bottle. Pours really dark brown with a small head. Aroma is sweet, sickly malt. Taste is sweet, again, raisins in there somewhere, but the sweetness is overwelming. Medium bitter finish.
