Old bottle via a web shop (presumably). Hazy dark brown, stable, foamy, tan head. Aroma of rubber, tobacco, date, BBQ herbs, toasted chestnut, burnt caramel, peated whisky, cooked apple. Taste has sweet date & red apple over a caramelly, brown-sugary malt base, gentle herbal & smoky notes around it. Earthy hops in the finish, lingering dried fruits, softly bitter orange pel and warming peated whisky alcohol. Medium body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Very enjoyable sipper, peat is quite right here.

My appreciation of quadrupels is way larger than my ambivalence for peated anything. In any case this tasting will be the one that puts me in the top 50 raters of quads worldwide, heady company I believe. I obtained this 33 cl bottle from Finest Belgian Beers a couple of months back, fortunate to have it. Lifting the lid before pouring into a tulip glass. A very dark liquid with amber highlights at the edges and a silver-taupe skim surviving. I smell the peat first and foremost with a hint of dark fruit. The taste improves over the scent but not as much as hoped. Earth, dark raisins, malt, plums and coal. Ah, well.

Dark brown/black colour. Beige foam. Roasty, notes of coffee, some notes of dried fruit, peaty whisky aftertaste. Good!
