Belhaven Black Scottish Stout really is something completely different. Bursting with roast coffee and chocolate flavours, this is a truly genuine and premium pint. Brewed using pure Scottish water and a unique blend of Scottish triple malts sourced from the finest locally grown barley.
Belhaven Black was launched across the UK on 23rd January 2012. A day of Scottish pride indeed. Bottles will be available in your local supermarket from April 2012.

Bottle pour at The Haven, next to Sam Adams Brewery in MA. Poured a dark pour, fluffy, light tan head. Aroma was quite a lot like Guinness, with some more toasty, and light peaty notes. Robust, and enjoyable.

Aromas and flavors are a mix of Scotch ale and start with black patent. Toasty, molasses with a slight hint of peat. Slightly sweet with enough bitter to balance. Creaming body. Nicely done. My first Scottish stout I think.

On keg at Wigtown Ploughman, Wigtown - jet black body with a firm tan head. Loads of chocolate malts, bit of liquorice, some roasted nuts. Surprisingly smooth and creamy, very quaffable.

Deep dark brown, with a tinge of red, appears near black, with a creamy / frothy tan head and a mellow coffee and dark fruit aroma. Creamy and smooth with dark fruits, some soft roasted malt and a mellow finish.

Canned - deepnblack to brown pour that settles. Roasted coffee and malt. I actually like this more than consensus

440ml maybe nitro can. Pours black with a great nitro off white head, very fine bubbles & wonderful texture. Aroma is mild, dark roast malt & a hint of coffee.Beer is smooth, near dry with an up front chocolate taste, very easy to drink.
One of the best 4ish ABV straight stouts i can remember.

0.5 l can @ Mijas. Pours pitch black with thin, permanent beige head. Nose is slight roasted/coffee notes, taste is quite the same with short, coffeeish finish. Extremely smooth, with almost non-existent carbonation, and light body. In fact, a bit too light for my liking.
