We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Rich, super hazy, deep copper and orange coloured body with a very thin, fast-dying tan head. Bright aroma of grapefruit hops, alcohol, malt and some grassy notes. Medium-bodied; Deep alcohol and bitterness from the hops with a lot of earthy malt, grass and even some apricot flavours along with the pungent grapefruit and cascade hops. Aftertaste shows a pleasant bitterness with a good balance of deep malt and a nice grassy and herbal note with some solid complexity throughout. Overall, a nice Imperial IPA with some good flavours and a pleasant balance along the way. Definitely nice to try and a solid addition to the Brooklyn lineup. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Fairfax, Virginia on 15-November-2014 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington on 30-December-2014.

Tap at Branded in Prospect Heights. Dark copper pour. Aroma is great - fruity hops with white grape, mango and citrus. Taste is less aggressively hoppy but still has fruity character. Strong carbonation and pretty bitter. Quite drinkable. Would get again.

Keg at the Bottle Shop, Bermondsey, on my 40th crawl 11/10/14. Lightly hazed golden orange with a decent beige covering that retains well. Nose is caramel malt, bread dough, spice, bitter orange, light tropicana. Taste comprises bitter tropicals, light pine, orange pith, grapefruit, caramel malt, mandarin, candied fruit peel. Medium + body, fine carbonation, lightly warming booze in the close. Ok DIPA, hides the ABV fairly well, not one I’d rush back to though - kind of a safe bet offering, this Bois prefers more hoppage!

Keg at bottle shop. Aroma is spicy, resin piney, orange peel jam. Clear golden orange with a lasting thin white head. Flavour is resin, spicy hop, resin, jammy orange. Hides the abv very well. Palate is semi sweet, highish crisp carbonation.
