Bottle split at the Watford tasting, thanks to the Wingmane, 11/03/22. Light black with a good sized tan cap that clears to a swirl. Nose is dark malts, chocolate, spice, coffee, toffee fudge, dusty fruits. Taste comprises dark malts, light charr, toffee fidge, chocolate, spice, molasses. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of alcohol. Decent enough easy drinking impy stout ... a touch simplistic but fine.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L26-2020 (BBF 07-2022). AROMA: medium to medium-high roasted malt aroma with a predominant unsweetened cocoa aroma, slight biscuit and a low alcohol background. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium brown head with medium-low retention. slight leg formation. TASTE: initial medium to medium-high dark unsweetened chocolate / cocoa and slight licorice. medium-high roasted to burnt flavor. medium-high bitterness with a dry and burnt finish. PALATE: high body and creamy. medium-low carbonation. slight alcoholic warmth. OVERALL: an average imperial stout without much complexity and a bit overly burnt.
