Reviewed from notes.
Kinda a big ABV for a Scottish ale, right? So I thought something was confused and opted for my thistle as I was thinking maybe this was supposed to be entered into Brewver as a Scotch ale?
Anyways, well here's the rest:
Yes to the thistle.
Appearance: way darker than I expected for a Scottish ale - yes to the dark brown color with a two and a half fingers of eggshell white foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some light speckled lace.
Aroma: coffee, then earthy to some "peaty" tones but to be honest, I feel like I'm really grasping at the "peaty" tones, then some roasted character with floral and woody tones further underneath
Flavor: coffee to roasty and semi-sweet tones; no aftertaste
Texture: medium to full bodied, somewhere between sessionable and being a sipper; pretty slow moving along the tongue but cloying (though that came close, I must say); finishes very coffee forward
Overall: while I tried to rate this to style, I believe I failed at doing that. So much coffee all over, just became way too hard to rate to style, however, the good thing is I must say I ended up like this beer for me - strange to say. Cheers to reinventions that work out, right?

A damn near-perfect coffee beer. Finds a beautiful harmony between the moderately roasted malt notes and bright java intensity. Mildly sweet, slightly acidic, with tons of roast and a lingering but manageable mocha bitterness. Great pint.

12oz bottle. Definitely one of my favorite FFF beers in recent memory. Booming coffee tone, with a base beer that is malty enough to ride with it. Usually I would be the one to say this would be better without the coffee, but in this case they really match up well and it rather excellently executed. Solid.

12 ounce bottle, 10/26/22. Hazy orangebrown, thin tan head, below average retention. Aroma of strong coffee, caramel, roast. Taste is roast, cherry, coffee, vanilla. Slick. Nice.

12 ounce bottle. Translucent reddish brown color. Frothy tan head diminishes slowly. Earthy roasted malt aroma has mostly coffeeish notes. Sweet roasted malt flavor has tasty notes of dark roast coffee, dark brown sugar and dark, dried fruits. Some peaty, earthy character on backend. Coffee flavor dominates, but this is a well crafted brew.
