Constamment à la recherche de nouvelles expériences gustatives, nos brasseurs laissent murir une Val-Dieu Grand-Cru dans les anciennes barriques de vin de Lérins. Celles-ci vont progressivement libérer leurs arômes permettant à notre bière de s’enrichir au fil du temps. Après un an de développement et d’évolution, le goût est au point et l’édition 2021 de l’« Excellence du Val-Dieu » est prête à être dégustée. L’édition 2020 a été élue, meilleure bière au monde dans la catégorie : bière aromatisée en fûts de chêne au World Beer Awards. édition limitée, bouteilles numérotées.

Sample (thanks omhper!). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is forest strawberries, some alcohol, fruits and mild toffeeish tones. Flavour is fruity, some alcoholic, and some sweet malts. Simplistic, but oh so tasty. And just perfectly levelled alcohol, not going to the glue like strong.

2022 Edition Small whitish head over hazy dark golden beer. Peach, apricot, liqueurish, alcohol & fusels. Sweet and boozy nose. Same in the taste: (over-)alcoholic, liqueurish, and again apricot/peach. Woody bitterness - maybe some vanilla. As if white Portwine lagered. Thick, viscous, alcoholic, good carbonation. A tad overboozy, not very refined. But OK, would go well with some desserts. Txs to Stef!

Gyllengul vätska med vitt skumlock. Brödig, karamellig och jästig i arom. Fyllig och len i kroppen med en lätt träighet. Mycket eldig munkänsla med en torr och sammansatt avslutning.

hazy pale golden colour, moderate sized dense and long lasting ecru-ish white head; aroma of chardonnay wine, grape peel, some floral/honey notes; taste is similar to the aroma with some fruitiness (peach and maybe pear); good one

0.75l bottle thanks to Lore. Hazy orange body with a lasting white head. Botrytis notes and raisins in the aroma with oak, vanilla and pepper. Taste of peach, grapes, wood, sugar syrup and a touch of floral hops. Thick bodied beer. Quite sweet, if you're into white dessert wines, you'll love this.

ABV: 12.0%. Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, fruity malt, dried fruit, moderate to heavy yeasty, fruity yeast, belgian yeast, sweet yeast, light oak. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, sweet yeast, fruity yeast, belgian yeast, fruity malt - sweet malt, light oak. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20220417]

--Bottled, from Systembolaget. -- Almost cleab amber, small head. Oaky nose with marzipan, calvados and bread. Mid dry with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Fierce pepery alcohol, oak, marzipan and caramelly bread. Intensely warming finish with some bitterness. Complex and intense.

Bottle from Drankdozijn. Hazy blond colour, white foam. Nose of dried fruit, peaches, some honey, vinous notes. Taste is sweet, woody, not very outspoken but more complex when warming up. Good!
