As we continue our nostalgic journey of beer styles from the early craft beer days it would remiss to not brew an American-Style Brown Ale! A rich base of Pils, Munich, Cara and debittered Roast malts has been dry-hopped with Cascade, Citra and Mosaic: this beer is smooth and biscuity with the faintest nuance of roast alongside citrusy hops.

440ml can bought at Vinmonopolet Aker Brygge. Pours a solid beige head over a cloudy reddish-brown body, lacing rings down the glass. Promising brown malty nose, lightly roasted. Toffee, ripe fruits, and dark bread to the taste buds. Rounded caramel malty end, slightly roasted. Pretty fair. (Hotel room, Oslo 01.11.2021).

Can from Bottles & Books. Clear brown/amber body with a beige head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of stewed tea and caramel. Flavour of toffee and orange peel. Medium body with a slick texture. Light fizz. Sweet and well balanced. I’d love to see more Brown Ales.
