From tap at the brewpub. Pours almost clear and deep golden brown with a small tan head. Aroma is distinct smoked ham with a nice wooden touch. "Spegepølse" taste, meat, wood and smoke. Sweet and malty. Lingering smoked into the far finish. Fantastic.

Draught at the brewpub
Dark color, amber and mahogany, with a persistent creamy head. Strong aroma of smoked sausages. It has a correct body strength, even if getting thinner towards the end; caramel flavor, dry, with pleasant smokey touch, and correct bitterness. Balanced, as usual; in the final there is some more dark chocolate, and the smoke presence is persistent. Very good.

On tap at the brewpub in Wien, July 09. Nice dark color with a fairly mild smoky aroma. The flavor was smoky with classic elements of smoked ham. Also malt and some butter. Not that advanced but still a good brew.

On draught at the brewpub. This brew is a murky amber color with a medium thin white head that recedes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Smoked ham and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of honey baked ham, smoked malt and oak. The finish is smoky with a mild hops aftertaste. I was skeptical based on the smell but overall it wasn’t bad at all.

Draught, 5.1% at the brewpub. Mild woody smoke aroma. Dark brown colour, seems clear. Small stable tan head. The flavour is distinctly smoky, but mild and pleasant. Mostly a woody smokiness, but it also has a hint of salami. Pleasant carbonation. Seems a bit peppery, or perhaps that is from the chili beer I just had.

An tap at the brewpub, several times in 2006. Rich smoked malt, slightly less smoky than in Bamberg, but very drinkable. great balance, very drinkable. Great with the sauer braten or the bratwurst.

Test vom 10.8.2008, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 10,12,10,11,-,11

Dark nut brown color, small steady off-white head. Light aroma of smoked ham. Sweetish, caramelly flavor then light to average flavor of smoke from Bamberg smoked malts. I can trace hints of diacetyl in the flavor too. This is their best beer, but just an average smoked, in Bamberg they certainly do it much better.
