Poured from the tap. Clear amber with small white head. Crystal malt, sweet, dull hop character. Bleh.

Amber, bright. Thin head. Chewy caramel malts. Some bitterness but no hop brightness. Ok this is about what I’d expect from the cat n fiddle (sorry grew up in pitt meadows so I have my biases) but that’s so strange in the 2022 context. That weak chewy malt thing isn’t helping it…if your hop contracts aren’t where you need them to be you at least need to crush the malt character.

On tap at Cat & Fiddle, pours a clear copper amber with a small white head. Nose is malty, with lots of caramel malt and subdued resins. Flavour is way too malty and sweet, with subdued resinous hops and lots of caramel malt. Old school west coast but way under-hopped and overly sweet, borderline cloying. Not good.

Medium clear copper body and okay foam. Very soft hops and weak mellow pine sweetness on the nose. Taste is caramel and malt with soft hop sweetness to round it out. A nicely understated traditional IPA.
