Allagash Saison is our interpretation of a classic Belgian farmhouse-style ale. Saisons were once brewed to slake the thirst of farmers returning from a long day of toil; they were spicy, light, and drinkable.
We brew this amber beer with a 2-row barley blend, malted rye, oats, and dark Belgian candi sugar. Northern Brewer, Bravo, and Cascade hops deliver a citrus profile with light bitterness. By fermenting with a traditional saison yeast strain, notes of spice and tropical fruit accent the aroma. Citrus and peppery spice balance its pleasant malt character. This beer is full bodied with a rustic, dry finish. Made for enjoying, no matter which type of work you’re returning from.

Tap at Allagash. It pours hazy gold with a thick white head. The nose is clean, fresh bread, light sweetness, soft fruits, lemon drizzle cake and a touch of bubblegum. The taste is crisp, clean, bready, cracker, light spice, grass, mild sweetness and a touch of alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Decent, easy-drinking saison.

Overripe lemon and funk nose, not strong. Milky yellow, thin head. Funk and lemon zest. Light body, spritzy, dry. Nice amount of funk, but not much else.

Tap at Munich tap House, 6th August 15. 35 degrees in town and this one hits the spot, very refreshing, clean, slight yeast, good complexity. Liked it

12 ounce bottle. Hazy pale gold color. Small creamy white head. Lemon peel and yeast nose. Tart citrus malt upfront with peppery notes. Spicy hops are balanced by the complex fruity, yeasty malt. Crisp dry finish. Nice clinging lace. A wonderful example of the Saison Farmhouse style. Kudos to Allagash.

Golden color with white head. Aroma of nice fresh funk, some spices, lemons, some more sweeter fruits. Taste has that typical cookie-dough-biscuit feeling. Some esters, a bit boozy, peppery finish with some bitterness. A silky mouthfeel, more like a good Kellerbier in that respect. A very nice Saison, albeit not on the crisp side and more delicate. Great balance.

Bottle, 12oz. An unclear, dark orange-golden beer with a small, white head. The aroma is citrusy and lightly piney, with a touch of pale malts in the back. There’s also a faint peppery, yeasty hint. The flavor is quite bitter, it’s dry and nicely carbonated, medium to full-bodied. There’s a faint grass note, some pepper and yeast and a little maltyness in the back. The finish is slightly more peppery, and overall, this is sure a nice beer, easy drinkable and quenching. 150610
