Bottled & Keg. A brooding, heavyweight stout, crammed with intense, deep-roast specialty malts. A recipe 8 months in the making with multiple edits before we were happy to proceed, in the end it was a delight to brew.

Another huge wonderful stout by Buxton. Big roast and chocolate with mocha cream aromas. Creamy consistency as well. Bitter finish. Black pour with mocha head and lacing. Very well balanced and a delicious beer. Tap at Churchkey.

Bottle from The Bottle Shop and drunk at home. Black thick oily beer with a massive massive tan head. It’s going to take 5 mins for the head to settle down. Big dark intense choc and espresso coffee and also some liquorice. Big and intense in the mouth but still with some drinkability. Chocolate and coffee are good to excellent. Never keen on liquorice flavours, but in this it’s ok. Hides ABV pretty well. I mean it got me drunk no doubt. Bit of chocolate sponge cake. It’s competent and tasty and drinkable enough. Yep thick intense decent..

Fra fat på What’s Brewing smaksfest nov-14: svart med kort brunt gardinskum. Intens aroma av høykvalitetskaffe tilsatt en touch sjokolade, lakris og furunål. Like god smak, fyldig og smud. Begynner å kjenne at den gir utslag på Richters skala, eller er det fordi vi nærmer oss slutten på en usedvanlig fin kveld hvor smaksopplevelsene sto i kø?

Keg at Man in the Moon, Stockholm. Perfectly black, beige head. Licorice, pastis and tobacco up front. Sweet with full body and soft mouthfeel. Sugar, licorice and alcohol. Notee of leather and tobacco. Peppery very bitter finish with plenty of resin. Well structured but a bit too heavy/sweet /resiny.

Bottle from Cornelius. Impenetrable black body with a thick tan head that holds well. Excellent lacing. Aroma of espresso, caramel, liquorice, chocolate brownies and underlying fruity hops. Flavour of raisin, black cherry, dark chocolate and treacle. Full body with a syrupy mouthfeel. Low carbonation. A rich, boozy Imperial Stout with a long, bitter finish and decent dose of hops for the style.
