Chimay Speciale 1956 is een limited edition. In 1956 werd een nieuw kerstbier gelanceerd. Het was het begin van de rijke geschiedenis van het bier dat we nu kennen als Chimay Blauw. Deze Chimay Speciale 1956 gaat ruim zestig jaar terug in de tijd.
Originally, Chimay was sold in identical beer bottles, distinguishable only by the color of their caps. Now the Abbey of Scourmont takes us back 60 years and gives us the Chimay Grande Réserve (Blue) in its original 1956 bottle.
The Chimay Grande Réserve (Blue), an exceptional Belgian brown Trappist beer, was initially only conceived for Christmas. It was not brewed on a regular basis until two years later, in 1958.
The color is deep brown, and the abundant foam lasts for a long time. The powerful aroma with a bouquet of spices and a fruity scent is very characteristic of the Chimay. Enjoy the refined and delicate taste, which does not suffer from the high alcohol content. Beer that you can keep for a few years.

The Chimay Blue is a dark ale with a powerful aroma. Its complex flavor improves with passing time. The 75-centiliter version (since 1982) is called ''Grande Réserve'' because of its great storage potential., It was first brewed as a Christmas beer by the monks of Scourmont Abbey in 1956. But after its great success, it was decided to offer it permanently.

Dark & rich. Caramel, dried dark fruit, caramel and molasses. Moderate bitter, bitter-sweet, brown sugar and roast in the aftertaste.
