Cherry Lambic Sour Ale
Winner of a gold medal at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival, Transatlantique Kriek begins its life in oaken vessels of Gert Christiaens’ Oud Beersel, a 130-year-old lambic brewery in the Zenne valley of Belgium – home of authentic Lambic beer. After time spent aging in wood, Oud Beersel’s lambic is blended with tart Polish cherries and shipped across the Atlantic to New Belgium. In concert with Oud Beersel’s cherry lambic, or Kriek, we blend an equal portion of golden sour ale matured for 1 – 3 years in our oak vessels called foeders. 50% Sour Golden Ale blended with 50% Traditional Cherry Lambic Ale leads to an intense cherry nose, a sour flash across the palate and a refreshing, mouthwatering finish.

Bottle shared at ACBS courtesy of Steptin. Cheers James! Hazy orange - red beer, little white head. Light dry palate. A little sourness to start and a trace of Cherry. Turns sweeter quite quickly - somewhat saccahrin. A whisper of lactose in the dry finish. Ok.

Bottle thanks to Steptin at ACBF ’11. Smells of fruit syrup. Some fruity faint cherry. Not great but does not taste of real fruit..

Bottled@fonefan. Red colour, not much head. Aroma is cherries, wood, some mild sourness as well as mild vanilla. Flavour is cherries, some mild wooden notes as well as some slight burnt sugar and some mild spicy notes lurking in the background.

Bottle 22fl.oz.[ Courtesy of Secret Santa ]. Clear medium to dark red color with a small, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head with a pnik note. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy cherry, marcipan - almond, butter notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light acidic with a average to long duration, cherries, buttery notes. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20101022]

On tap in brewery parking lot during clips of faith film festival. The last of LOF I haven’t tried that’s currently available. Pours a purplish red with small head. taste is pretty tart with dark cherries, lemon peel. Bitter and watery mouthfeel. decent for a fruit beer nice way to finish festival for myself.

Not a very good kriek but still an enjoyable beer. The beer is a dull maroon with a small but dissipating white head. Somehow, the look fits the beer. The aroma is mostly cherries but not terribly clean. There’s some cough syrup in there. The beer is also a bit sweet and lacking in intensity of flavor. It’s a washed out kriek that’s easy to drink but not compelling. There’s some sour character and acidity. It’s mildly tart on the palate. Feel seems appropriate. Good enough fruit beer.

Bomber shared with steptin. Murky purple color, small light pink head, Aroma of fruit, citrus, white pepper. Flavor is pure sweet dark cherries, lemon peel. Nice.

Bottle @ Papsø. Thanks. Pours blood red with a small pink head. Nose is sweet cherries and sweet malts. Some fresh and tart notes with a bit of marzipan. Very dry, easy and tasty
