A superior traditional red ale. Break through a balmy heavy cream head to a fruit filled characterful mouth, poised over caramel notes derived from deep roasted malts and not burnt sugar-like artificial additives.

Keg at Porterhouse, Covent Garden. Opaque amber. Thick foamy light beige head. Aroma has loght rye - grains and sweetness. Flavourwise there is a spur berry edge and rye. However there's also a starry twiggy underbelly. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Has some bright parts but at heart twiggy.

Bottle at ash’s. Pours clear deep amber, nose is burnt toffee, caramel, honey, taste is a bit flat, toffee, more honey.
