As Sussex fans of fermentation, it was always on the cards that we’d have a go at making cider. Using local Sussex Apples and a yeast more usually found in Champagne, we’ve brewed a crisp, medium dry, sparkling vintage cider.

Draft at the Saffrons taproom. Poured almost clear with no head and a few bubbles. The aroma is crushed apples. The flavour is over moderate sweet, with a light herbal, sugary apple, acidic palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. Too sweet for me.

Can at home - probably from Meads Wine Shop. Light, watery look. Highly sweet in a nice way. Superbly easy drinking. Yummy.

330ml can from Fuggles Bottle Shop. Hazed yellow gold colour, thin white foam head that quickly dissipates away and aroma of apple, fruity, citric. Taste is crisp, apple, fleshy, tart, tangy, fruity, with some citric acidity. Slick mouthfeel, medium bodied, light carbonation, dry citric minerally finish. Quite drinkable.
