May we introduce you to our Weizen Doppelbock style beer. Please note, this is not a traditional doppelbock but a mix with IPA style beer. Weizen Doppelbock is a stronger beer than a traditional wheat beer as a double quantity of malt are used to create it. Then we add a huge quantity of hops as for an IPA style beer and woala - we get a strong wheat beer, with a strong taste, fresh hoppy notes and a fruity taste from our yeast - that’s our Litra Firestarter.

On tap at Smokehouse, pours a cloudy dull golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is on the hoppier side for the style, with toasted malt, and light spicy clove. Flavour is along the same lines, with spicy clove and some citrus hops. Spicy and hoppy in good balance. Solid, but not that great despite the seemingly prevailing local opinion.

500ml PET bottle filled from a tap (thanks a lot to dnicolaescu for this one). Pours cloudy gold with a large white head. Beautiful lacing. Aroma is pineapple, pine, a bit of bubblegum. Taste is light spiciness, wheat, lots of citrusy hops. Mouthfeel is creamy, low carbonation. Not a typical weizenbock but excellent all the same. The best thing I have tried from Moldova so far.

10-APR-2017. Tap at Smokehouse. Batch 1. Orange juice appearance (fresh keg), off-white head. Smells like an intense weizen - ripe pineapple, with a good deal of citrus hops and zest. The taste is concentrated hop juice with a milk shake texture - strong ripe citrus, lots of citrus peel and pungent zest. Not much weizen left, the hops are all over it. And it doesn’t even feel that bitter. Very good.

23-FEB-2018. Batch 2. Cloudy dark orange. Strong citrus, hop-oil, vague pine-apple and a lot of clove. As strong and hoppy as last year's. May a it less hop-burny. Excellent.
