A German classic and one of our favourite beer styles, it is as relevant today as it's ever been. Naturally hazy and full of flavour, with notes of banana and clove, it's as refreshing on a warm day as it is comforting on a cold one.

Tap at the Victoria, Birmingham. Poured a clear golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is banana yeast. The flavour is sweet banana, dry yeast, with a smooth, dry, yeasty acidic, cheesy, floral, perfume palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Really didn’t enjoy this. The beer was all over the place and it took 15 minutes to pour.
