Sample at Daily Growler UA during the Founders Barrel Aged Bash (CBS, KBS, and more) event on 11/09/2019. Hazy golden color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of spiced rum, fruit and malt. Full-bodied with a sweet rum character and flavors of oak, candied fruit and malt. The finish is sweet with a rum and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

A dark orange and murky beer, a head is almost medium and blond. Aroma ias weird mix of tropical fruitness and sweet rum, also some alcohol. Taste has fruitness, peach, rum that's strenghter in the end with alcohol. Also some barrel, medium bitternss. Almost full bodied. I like rum, but still combo is too weird, even the rum isn't so strong as the beer is getting warmer. Rum, tropical notes, sweetness.

Pours deep slightly hazed gold into a tulip. White sickly head with medium retention recedes to mottle rim. Aged caramel aromas. Medium to thick-bodied with molasses and earthy, bitter oak upfront turning to hot rum in the lasting finish.

From a 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear orange gold with an off white head. Aroma is funky vinyl. Flavors are melange of sweet vanilla and bitter pine. Weird, and not in a good way.

Bottle from Beerhawk. A cloudy golden/amber/orange coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Sweet, rum, caramel aroma. Tastes quite boozy, rum, caramel, slightly fruity and surprisingly thin and watery. This doesn't work well at all, I know Founders can do much better than this.

Bottle. Pours cloudy golden with large foamy off-white head, woodsy aroma with citrus peel, medium carbonation, bitter woodsy caramel taste with strong citrus flavor, alcohol overtones, thin body, long finish with citrus and alcohol aftertaste. Very interesting brew.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours translucent gold with a white head. Aroma of rum and non-dark fruits. Somewhat musty wood. Nearly, if not, full bodied. Flavor is rum, wood, and a broad range of fruits - tropical - pale stone - and on and on. There's a heat thing, but it's just part of the flavors. Not really very dry. Bitter enough. Woodily/heatily astringent. OMFG - IMHO this is way underrated. I may have to buy some more (if it's findable) and stash in the frig for "aging" - :)

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home. [ As Founders Barrel Runner - 2018 ].Clear medium to light amber orange colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, rum, alcohol, oak, moderate to heavy hoppy, dried fruit, wood, barrel, alcohol - buzzy, oak - resin - barrel. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, candy, rum, sweet alcohol, buzzy, oak, dried fruit, sweet malt, oak - resin - barrel. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. IMO. quit unbalanced and do not hide the alcohol ! [20181121] 6-3-7-3-12
