Bottle: reddish amber with an off-white head; malty aroma and taste; very full in the mouth with some fruitiness and with a touch of pepper on the finish. A well-constructed old ale.

Bottle picked up at Morrisonโ€™s, Bridport, Dorset. For a filtered, pasturised beer this really was very good. Poured reddy brown colour, aroma was predominantly malty and sweet, taste was also malty again bit sweet but very flavoursome with nuts and fruits also swishing around as I said very good GK beer.

Half on cask. Perfect temperature. Mahogany red-tinged. Thin foamy head diminishing to nothing. Dark malty aroma combined with fruity notes. Flavour contains dark fruit and dark berries. Bitter sweetness towards the end. Dry finish. Flat and medium mouthfeel (The Harp in Covent Garden 18.09.2006).

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear amber colour with a thick and stable head. Typical nutty notes in both aroma and flavours with a marked bitter finish. Rather classical British. 140402 & 310802

Red amber beer with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of malt and berries. Sweet flavour with lots of berries, but balanced by plenty of hops and a lasting bitterness. Very smooth and rich.

Plain ale appearance with a lightly hopped aroma and slightly sour flavour. A plain beer, quite strong.
