A true classic, Spitfire Amber is the head of the Spitfire family and a true taste of Kent. It was first brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, played out in the skies above Kentish soil. It is brewed using 100% Kentish hops, the finest malt and water drawn from a well deep beneath Shepherd Neame’s Faversham brewery.

cask from The Plough in London - Pours copper amber with a long lasting one finger head. The very mild aroma has a bit of caramel malt and hops. It’s light bodied and has pretty well balanced bitterness with the malt sweetness. It’s alright but underwhelming.

Cask at the Shakespeare Pub in Manchester. Slightly darker-than average amber color. Fuller and more malty, although still not MALTY. Decent caramel flavor with a good deal of hops. More malty and ultimately more satisfying, than some other bitters I’ve had today, although still not all that interesting to me. Still lacking a kick.

Cask. Poured amber with a white head. Had notes of hay from the malts and citrus from the hops. Malts were more apparent in the flavor with cereal and grain coming through.
