A true classic, Spitfire Amber is the head of the Spitfire family and a true taste of Kent. It was first brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, played out in the skies above Kentish soil. It is brewed using 100% Kentish hops, the finest malt and water drawn from a well deep beneath Shepherd Neame’s Faversham brewery.

2008-10-21, cask conditioned at The Kings Arms, London, 7-4-7-4-14=36
The aroma is also a bit cheesy, interesting. Good Bitter, good caramel flavor and quite good hopping, surely quite strong.
2008-03-03, cask conditioned at Rover, Göteborg, 7-4-6-3-14=34
It has a light amber color and a persistent layer of foam. The aroma is good, malty and fruity too, with a lot of nice caramel or fudge. The flavor has basic caramel, less interesting than I expected by the aroma. It has a strong bitterness, with some resins in the end. Ordinary Bitter, but still better than most of the latest ones I had in Copenhagen.
2008-02-15, cask conditioned at Charlie's Pub, Copenhagen, 7-4-7-4-14=36
Amber color, frothy head. A pleasant Ale, quite refreshing and earthy, with good caramel/toffee flavor and strong bitterness. Well brewed, well balanced, good.
2003-06-19, cask conditioned, 5-4-6-4-13=32
Fresh new cask. Amber color. Light malt aroma. Pleasant malt taste, maybe too weak body; partially balanced by the bitterness, but not enough aromatic.

Cask-conditioned at the Cotham Porter Stores, Bristol. Amber coloured with a slight, off-white head. Caramel malt and red fruit aroma with some earthy hops. The flavour was sweetish with more caramel and a decent bitter finish. Good.

Cask at the Kings Head, Hythe, Kent. Reddish brown in colour with a thin cream head; a clean dry hop aroma; intense citrus and hop flavours to start, developing a marmalade sweetness, then a gentle well-balanced bitter finish. I have often drank the bottle version, but this was much, much better.

Aroma of light fruity hop. Lightish amber color with a cross betweencreme and coase white head. Starts fruit, almost effervescently so. The malt is difficult to locate. The finish is a nice mild bitterness. Puckerish comes to mind. Yet each mouthful retains that wonderful fruitiness. What ales should be.
