A true classic, Spitfire Amber is the head of the Spitfire family and a true taste of Kent. It was first brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, played out in the skies above Kentish soil. It is brewed using 100% Kentish hops, the finest malt and water drawn from a well deep beneath Shepherd Neame’s Faversham brewery.

(Draught at The Rover in Gothenburg) Clear brown color, smal white head. Small sweet scent. A bit watery mouth feel. A butterscotch note ion the taste, a bit metal after taste. Medium high bitterness. It feels different, in a good way, from how I remember the bottled version. Still not among the beers I’d buy often thuogh.

Cask. Clear, still, copper-colored bitter with a small white head. Weak malty aroma with some notes of hops. The flavor start sweet and sodapop-like, but is soon replaced by malt and hops. Quite weak flavor. Thin and watery beer with a decent hoppiness in the finish. A bit disappointing, yet drinkable beer. Rating: 5-3-4-3-10-2.5. (060713)[br][br]Cask at Århus Ølfestival. Served a clear, yellowish golden body with a small white head. Citrusy hops playing the major part in the aroma, but with good support from malt. Some piney notes too. Quite citrusy and hoppy flavor with some room for malts. Medium to thin body. Piney, hop-bitter finish. Nice. Much better than the last time I had it. (080516)

(Cask at Shipwright Arms, Borough, London 20 Apr 2006) Amber colour with almost no head. Nose is malty and fruity with hints of apricots and a slightly metallic hoppiness. Taste is malty with a somewhat neutral fruitiness (hints of citrus) and a drier metallic finish. A reliable, but rather unexciting, bitter.

[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] An amber beer with a beutiful orange head. The aroma is sweet fruity combined with fruits, and a light note of cask metal. The flavor is sweet fruity leading to a dry lovely hoppy bitter end, combined with light notes of metal.

Cask. Malty, nutty aroma. Flavour is also malty and with a little green apple to it. The aftertaste has a harsh bitterness, and later some maltiness.

Cask at County Hotel, Ashford. Yeah this is ok as a premium bitter. Typical Sheps nose with some fruit and some hops in this mid brown beer. Mind you I will only have this is there are no guests on or Abbot Ale
