Bottle, Spoons Shepherd’s Bush. At film festival so beers before 11:00 is acceptable. Light yeastie aroma. Hazy pale gold. Extremely frothy head - may be my pour though. Soft body with a fizz of carbonation. Light sour. Some banana, water melon. I didn’t notice it was a Helles so explains why it’s a bit light and frothy.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Andover Liquors. Aroma is wheat and yeast, mildest of fruity esters. Appearance is hazy pale yellow with greenish tinge, attractive sparkle, finger-width foamy head with decent retention and trace lacing. Taste is wheat, light fruity esters and clove. Palate is light bodied with creamy texture, soft to average carbonation and a finish that just sort of fades away. Overall, an inoffensive introduction to hefeweizens for someone who is used to boring macros, but is quite mediocre.

Clear to hazy straw yellow colour, a lot of bubbles, tall frothy white head, very good retention, good lacing. Aroma wheat, banana, cloves, lemon, yeast, light sour impression. Taste medium sweet, slightly sour, wheat, light citrus, with average to long duration. Mild bittersweet finish, spicy notes, medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Really good weizen, smooth and elegant.

50cl bottle from the Standing Order. Appearance - golden with a big fluffy head. Steady carbonation. Nose - light fresh banana. You have to look for any nutmeg notes, if indeed they are there at all. Taste - creamy banana, fresh lemon through the finish. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - balanced and tasty Hefe.
