Bottle from St Aiden’s Winery, Holy Island - Dark clear amber, no head. Nose is honey, naturally, with a wee bit of cinnamon and nutmeg. Taste is medicinal, but warming and pleasant. Oily and slick. Nice.

Bottle from Fortnum & Masons. Consumed cold originally. It pours a rich, clear golden colour. The rich, oily, sweet apple pie, stewed pear, honey and festive spice. The taste is slick, almond, marzipan, stewed apple, poached pear, festive spices, warming alcohol and earth with a smooth finish. Medium body and slick, oily mouth-feel. Works quite nicely with the spice. 3.3 overall. Second sitting we had this one hot as recommended by the meadery. Works much better in my opinion. Spice and warming alcohol are almost intoxicating. Opens it up and makes it way more drinkable. Very nice overall. 3.7. Average score is 3.5.
