Originally brewed as a special to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar in 1805. However, production of the bottled version and, occasionally, the cask has continued.
This premium bottle-conditioned ale has been uniquely brewed using our own Cornish Gold malt. Locally grown barley is traditionally malted using a special kilning process which develops a deeper intensity of colour and flavour than ordinary barley malt. Blended with both Styrian Golding and Cascade hops, the result is a deep bronze ale with a delicious rich biscuit flavour and a wonderful spicy aroma.

Cask@Charlies bar, Copenhagen - dark amber pour with medium white head. Aroma and taste is toasty malty, caramel, toffee,mix of dried fruits with prominent sultana on the palate, some herbal hoppy notes, slight spice in there. Decent drop.

Bottle, 0.50l. Hazy orange brown color with large fluffy tan-like head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of ripe fruits, grassy hops, biscuit malt and yeast. Taste starts with light sweet toasted malt, follows by fruity acidity and mild spicy mouthfeel, while finish is moderate bitter. Full body, slick texture and lively natural carbonation in palate. After a short battle I defeated admiral Nelson :)

Pours with a dark red (somewhat towards brown) color and a mild/weak head. The aroma is very gentle and pleasant thanks to the citrusy hops. The taste is not too strong, although still straightforward, bitter with some roasted feel. A nice brew altogether.

Bottle from Bernie’s Real Ale Off Licence, Solihull. Poured a clear reddish amber with a thin short-lived white head. The aroma is rich fruity malt and caramel. The flavour is medium bitter with lots of malt and caramel on the smooth tasty palate.
