Originally brewed as a special to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar in 1805. However, production of the bottled version and, occasionally, the cask has continued.
This premium bottle-conditioned ale has been uniquely brewed using our own Cornish Gold malt. Locally grown barley is traditionally malted using a special kilning process which develops a deeper intensity of colour and flavour than ordinary barley malt. Blended with both Styrian Golding and Cascade hops, the result is a deep bronze ale with a delicious rich biscuit flavour and a wonderful spicy aroma.

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, Bestillingsutvalget. Drukket i heimen 13 Aug 12. Mørk aprikosfarget. OK, passe høyt luftig skum som varer en stund. Forsiktig - men god fruktig aroma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken er tørket frukt med en tiltakende syrlighet. Veldig engelsk i karakter.

Hazy amber colour with a tan head. Caramell malt and floral hoppy nose. A very fresh texture. Caramel malt, moderate sweetness and a fine hoppy flavour.

Bottled 500ml (Black Door, BB 10/2012)
Slightly hazy amber-red ale, tiny white head. Caramelly, honey-flowery aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Sweetish caramelly yeasty flavor. Light hoppyness in the finish. Overall quite typical amber ale.

Bottle. Looks nice with a clear amber colour and a frothy and a bit compact light beige head. Sweet aromas of caramel, leather and dried fruit. More wood, oak and leather in the flavour along with dried fruit. Rich and soft mouhtfeel, and a light bitterness. A good and well-balanced british ale.

Medium light beige head. Clear deep red body with light carbonation. Light floral fruity toffee aroma with mealy wooden notes. Dry-sweet fruity peppery caramel taste with orangey notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, dust mouthfeel. Dryish orangey wooden papery aftertaste with perfumy fruity notes. It’s nice, but a bit cloying and perfumy. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

500ml bottle. Clear reddish amber colour with average firm frothy lacing white head. Fine floral hop aroma. Taste has floral hop notes again, a cautious fruity touch of lychee and mandarin. Delicate and subtle composition.

500 ml bottle conditioned, new at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5%. Beautiful copper colour, moderate off-white head, nice lacing. Lovely aroma of fruity hops (Styrian Goldings and Cascade), also hints of spruce, caramel and ripe berries. The medium sweet flavour has a nice balance between the malts and hops, notes of caramel, toffee, sweet biscuits and ripe berries. A little more bittering hops in the finish would not hurt, but this is a very enjoyable ale as it is.
