Originally brewed as a special to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar in 1805. However, production of the bottled version and, occasionally, the cask has continued.
This premium bottle-conditioned ale has been uniquely brewed using our own Cornish Gold malt. Locally grown barley is traditionally malted using a special kilning process which develops a deeper intensity of colour and flavour than ordinary barley malt. Blended with both Styrian Golding and Cascade hops, the result is a deep bronze ale with a delicious rich biscuit flavour and a wonderful spicy aroma.

Clear dark red - brown beer. Semi soft and semi dry palate. Sharpish grassy hops underpinned by soft malt. Finishes with more grass and the malt turning nutty. Mild bitter linger.

50 cl bottle @ Gastropub Soho
Aroma is fruity with apricot, hints of resin and hay. Smooth, creamy palate. Flavour has hops, some grainy hay typical to golden ales and hints of peach. Nice and refreshing.

Bottle: Unclear, amber-orangey coloured with a stable loose and lacy off-white head, fruity-caramelly nose with a mild, but distinctive hoppiness; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, very soft, light to medium bodied; smooth and lingering hoppy-bisquity finish. Well drinkable, delicious stuff…

50cl bottle shared with Joes. Lightly hazy bronze color, small white to off-white head. Smell is weird: herbs, hops, fruityness and malts in a mix. Taste is a lot more sour then expected. Some bitterness from ’fruit-peel’, probably mostly resembling grape-peel-bitterness. Medium but a little fizzy carbo, low to medium body.

Bottle from St. Ives. Pours clear copper with a creamy off-white head. Aromas of light, almost tropical, fruits. Med body. Flavor is very fruity over toasted caramel. Finishes fruity with more than a hint of toffee. And bitter.

500ml bottle conditioned ale from Sourced Market at St Pancras train station. Pours a deep dark amber body topped by a low, white head. Lighter hints of earthy hops to the nose. A bit jam-like, malt-fruity taste. Short-lived bitter endnotes. Anonymous (shared with friends, hotel room, London 20.03.2011).
