We brewed a modern Wee Heavy with an unusual malt grist, high in caramel malts as well as dark muscovado sugar. We infused the beer with mixed spices and raisins post fermentation to give a malty and sweet dark ale reminiscent of hot cross buns. Aided and abetted by our friends at GRUB. One a penny, two a penny, hot cross bun.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely olive sheen. Attractive small head. Nose - sultanas and prunes. A bit woody. Taste - more wood up front. Nuts, prunes again. Palate - medium to full bodied with a creamy texture. Dry boozy finish. Overall - drinks like it's 12%. Good gear!

Keg @ Knott Bar, Manchester. Brown with an off-white creamy head. Its strength is evident and is a sweet bubble-gum chewy brown ale.
