medium black color. Tons of coffee, molasses and chocolate with touch of lactose. Super Smooth. Nice.

Black Tide Umibozu and Friends Sweet Stout 7% Pitch black with a thick rusty tan head of foam. For a sweet stout the aroma is surprisingly roasty and the abv kind of high. The ingredients don’t list lactose but do list vanilla do this is an unusual take on the style. Full bodied with toasty, savory dark chocolate up front which melds well with the vanilla in the finish. More balanced than most sweet stouts but to live up to the supremely Halloween focused label I would love to see a version of this released with a smidge of Halloween spices. I think that’d work very well and on nitro could be mind blowing. It is a tasty treat that matches this rainy fall day well. I think it’d make a great base beer for fun experimenting.
