Through the fire and ash emerges Burning Effigy, an export smoked porter. Thick, full bodied and undeniably smoky from use of specialist malts; burning effigy is the liquid equivalent of gathering around a bonfire: warming, satisfying, primal and slightly sinister.

Smoked with the right intensity, it's still clearly a smoked porter, and not just a smokey beer. Smooth, flavourful for the ABV, smokey of course, fairly sweet. Good bit of roast as well. Could do with a bit more excitement, but well made.

Can at home split with Sarah. A nut cola brown coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is earthy nutty malts, peat smoke, tangy dried fruit, apple, soggy bark. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, earthy hazelnut, low earthy smoke, bark, light spices, Palate is semi sweet, light creamy, moderate carbonation.. Not bad.
