Barrel-Aged Coconut Stout
Behold the legend of Cocomungo – this devastating Imperial Stout was aged for over a year in Willett bourbon barrels, and brewed with double roasted crystal malt, maple syrup, and toasted coconut. Layer upon layer of coconut, maple, and rich chocolate await, backed by whiskey and oak notes from the barrel-aging.

12 ounce bottle, 11/1/22. Can't recall where I got it. Black, medium dark brown head, below average retention. Aroma of roast, dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, coconut, molasses. Taste is coconut, roast, chocolate, raisin, vanilla, bourbon, oak. Full bodied. Booze very well hidden. Well balanced. Quite nice.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2022. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of coconut with light roast, dark grains and a bit sweet chocolate backing. Flavor has a coconut and chocolate combination with a bit of barrel and sweet dark grain backing.

Pours black with a small tan head. It smells of bourbon, chocolate, roast malt, and maybe coconut. The flavor is very sweet with the huge malt bill burying the alcohol. Lots of bourbon. Chocolate and oak. Full bodied. Really tasty dessert beer.

Black body, thin brown head. Aroma boozy, leathery, with roast, charred sugars, dark fruit, coconut, and wood. Huge sweet body, vinous, with dark fruits (mostly raisin, prune), burnt sugars, cocoa, coffee, oak barrel, and coconut. Boozy heat in the finish. On the verge of cloying, the coconut boosting the already intensely sweet profile. On that note, I preferred Crushing Mass, but this is still a very good experience overall.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a pitch black with a full two fingers of tan head that lingers. Molasses, coconut, bourbon and vanilla on the nose. Dark fruit notes as it opens up. Lots of bourbon with oak and coconut all over the palate. Lotsa bourbon, but well integrated. Great stuff.
