Doomed by a love of pitch-black Porters and our Allagash House Beer, we summoned the recipe for Haunted House. Roasted Barley and Blackprinz malt curse this beer with a gravely dark hue. Hopped with Tettnang, Chinook, and Saaz hops, this beer ends with a ghost of coffee-flavored bitterness and hauntingly complex malty palate.
Grains: Allagash 2-Row Malted Barley Blend, Victory, Carapils, Raw Wheat, Roasted Barley, Blackprinz
Hops: Nugget, Cascade, Northern Brewer
Yeast: House

Sampled at Snallygaster 2023. Pours a murky black, thin tan head. Malty nose, chewy grains and toast, some coffee. Bitter and earthy on the tongue, some pine but mostly toasted grains and malt. Earthy finish. Long but an easy drinker.

16oz can. Really retains a lot of Porter characteristics...just as much a Porter as a Black IPA for sure. Really nice beer, pleasant roastiness and a classic, steady hop balance. Good stuff.

Refrigerated pint can, canned July 28, 2022 poured into a glass. Black with small light brown head. Aroma is cocoa, medium body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is cocoa and herbal hops. Probably better fresher.

Can from Systembolaget. It was nice enough with a rather deep bitter roasted end that I wasn't expecting so much. Hops got a bit lost. It isn't a dark ipa so style here is maybe misleading.

Can 47,3 cl. Pours a clear, deep brown with a warm, burgundy hue and a creamy, beige head. Dusty roast nose with very few traces of hops. Medium body, very soft mouthfeel and a soft carbonation. Sweet roast, a hint of vanilla. Subdued bitterness. They don't call it a Black/Cascadian IPA, and it really isn't. A hoppy Dark Ale as the can says is very precise. 290123
