Doomed by a love of pitch-black Porters and our Allagash House Beer, we summoned the recipe for Haunted House. Roasted Barley and Blackprinz malt curse this beer with a gravely dark hue. Hopped with Tettnang, Chinook, and Saaz hops, this beer ends with a ghost of coffee-flavored bitterness and hauntingly complex malty palate.
Grains: Allagash 2-Row Malted Barley Blend, Victory, Carapils, Raw Wheat, Roasted Barley, Blackprinz
Hops: Nugget, Cascade, Northern Brewer
Yeast: House

Can at Malmö Crew Christmas tasting at Palace Hall (17/12/2022) - roasted malty with bites of cocoa and coffee roast, singed brown sugar, full to medium body, hoppy undertones, dark roasty malty close. Works well.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a rich, three centimetre, fast-dying tan head that leaves a nice layer on top and on the sides. Aroma of alcohol, coffee, roasted malt and some noticeable hops with a tiny bit of oranges here. Medium-bodied; Strong roasted malt and toasted malt notes give off a lot of caramelised sugars and toffee notes with some floral and herbal aspects, but there is also some coffee and cream here as well with a lot of bitterness and a good hoppy quality throughout that sort of blends the line between styles. Aftertaste is rich, more coffee, bitter and pungent in the malts than anything else with a lot of deep and earthy notes throughout that shows nicely, especially on the end, in terms of complexity. Overall, great to sample, with a good robust and balanced profile throughout that shows some elegant and easy-going flavours, but enough flavour, profile and complexity to be exactly what most people are looking for. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Trader Joe's in Glen Allen, Short Pump, Richmond, Virginia on 26-September-2022 for US$3,25 sampled at my house here in Washington on Halloween Night, 31-October-2022, after taking my three kids out for trick-or-treating on a rainy night here in the city.

Pounder from Appalachian. Pint glass @home. Thick oatmeal head, not settled black on brown body. Smells of copper & Saaz with a tiny bit of charred coffee. Semi-sweet, big brown ale flavor. Lightly acidic coffee, savory tomato, pizza crust. Moderately low but lingering pithy bitterness over some sugar. Frothy, low to medium carb, somewhat boozy for the list. Surprisingly meh from Allagash.
