Keg at the brewery tap. Pours oily, deep black with s lasting, creamy beige head. Tons of burnt wood in the nose, ash, dried dark berries, baking cocoa. Medium sweet flavour with a hefty booze kick, lots of jammy, leathery dark berries, some bitter chocolate, ashy roast. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, with more jammy berries, more ashy roast and bittersweet baking cocoa. Pretty sturdy gear. Hefty.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black with small tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast, wood, cocoa. Medium body, rich malt, dark chocolate, wood, boozy bitter finish, very good.

On tap @ the brewery. Black appearance with a thin tan head. The aroma is chocolate, burnt sugar, Chipotle sauce, and some dark fruit. Boozy and thin. A bit medicinal. Cherry and grape flavor. Twangy. Not great.

Taster at the brewery - nicely done variation on the base beer - still smooth, creamy, and relatively dry for the style and abv - moderate smoke - dark chocolate, espresso - grape juice adds a moderate tannic character and a little additional acidity - finish and chocolate-covered cherries and espresso beans, some prune and raisin - tasty.
