Draft at Stanley Beer Hall - listed at 12.8% and doesn’t really taste barrel-aged - sort of your standard, assertively-hopped American barleywine - some bright fruitiness, herbal hop notes, and string finishing alcohol - surprisingly dry for something so strong - meh.

Crowler bought from Beer Drop.
Pours clear copper colour with a finger of foam that shrinks slowly.
Smell is of caramel malt, brown sugar, Bourbon, some fruitiness. And ample alcohol.
I expected it to taste sweeter. There is the caramel and brown sugar but it is offset by a nondescript hop bitterness. The Bourbon adds some flavour and heat. More sips in and I find that the finish is off putting. It is like a clash between some fruity notes and the hop bitterness that I mentioned in the smell.
I'm now picking up a vinous character. There's no dating on the Crowler and I am now wondering if it was filled from an aged batch? No signs of the "good" oxidation.
Full bodied imo, this is very disappointing.

On tap @ Gravity. Pours a bit hazy dark orange appearance with an off white head. Some whiskey noticeable in the aroma with caramel, grass, booze, and earth. Quite boozy flavor. A little butterscotch, brown sugar, apple, whiskey, and dull hops. Boozy. Pretty tannic. 11%
