One of the older brands of standard pale lager in Greece, launched in 1963 but already in the clutches of Heineken since 1965. At the Platia tapas bar (run by two Belgians, no less) in Agia Galini on Crete. Thick and frothy, snow white, stable head on a clear, pure, 'metallic' golden beer with strings of sparkling. Aroma of corn bread and cooked corn, old cotton cloth, raw cereals, minerals, touch iron - very clean, but also weak and very simplistic, perhaps even more so than average for the style. Neutral onset with sharp minerally carbonation, sweetish cereally middle with that typical corn rubberiness underneath, slender in structure; grainy finish with ongoing corn flavour but very little else, though some grassy hops do add a brief and superficial element of bitterness in the tail, with even somewhat drying effect. Quenching on a hot day in Crete, but so is sparkling water; this is very cleanly made, in any case, but technically there is nothing 'off' - a typical run-of-the-mill Heineken lager, in that sense, boring to death but correct for what it intends to be. I am guessing this one is extremely difficult to distinguish from actual Heineken in a blind tasting - who is up to this daunting task?

Can at hotelroom cause Laura wasn't ready to go out for dinner yet. Clear golden pour, white head. Aroma is quite faint and boring, maybe some maltiness and a little metallic. Flavor is also boring, malts, grainy, iron-ish straw-bitter. Rather heavy carbonation. Meh.

Can in 🇬🇷. Grainy sweetish. Not much bitterness, grain, sweetish sticky with a watery grainy finish.

Oct. 2004: (Draught at Iolida Village, Agia Marina, Crete, Greece.) "Neutral", unremarkable pale lager. Unoffensive. The beer was cold, I was thirsty, it did the trick.

Can (thanks OH6MIL!). Yellowish golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is floral, some grains, mild herbs and earth. Flavour is maize, some grains, a bit earth and some skunky tones. Bulky. Very much so.
