(10/30/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in San Francisco. 4.0%. As the name suggests - deep ruby color. Aroma of malt and butterscotch. Sweet buttery flavor with some toasted malt notes and sour hints in the finish. Light-bodied. Not really good.

Draft. Ruby beer with a light cream colored head. Toffee, caramel, malt, burnt sugar aroma. Light roasty, caramel, toffee flavor with a slight astringency. Medium-light body. Lingering toffee, caramel, and grain. Wonderful aroma, but can’t follow through.

On tap. Golden copper body with small white head. Mild malty aroma, slightly toasted. Harmonic flavor with the right touch of bitterness and a soft crispy aftertaste. I was really surprised to find this beer at 4,8 ABV, itβs so mild and gentle I cold swear this was lower than 4 ABV. These brewers seems to really have their thing making authentic beer styles and not Americanize them.
