This year’s Ancient One B-bomb is a blend of 18 and 30-month B-bomb aged in 12 and 35-year old bourbon barrels. When we happened upon these rare, 35-year old bourbon barrels, we knew they would add an extra layer of intensity and complexity to B-bomb’s bourbon, oak, cacao, leather, and dark coffee notes. Each barrel contributes a different note and combining each barrel to create a coherent tone is a distinct art and true pleasure. Please do enjoy this unique barrel-aged ale today but know that Ancient B-bomb will age gracefully for at least another 5 years. Don’t Be Afraid To Be Abominable.

Down & Dirty: Pale, Chocolate, Roast, Carafa, Munich, and Dark Crystal malts with Columbus, Willamette, and Golding hops.

375ml bottle thanks to Darrel. Pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is nice big bourbon booze. Taste is more of the big booze bourbon barrel vanilla.

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tan head. Aromas of brown sugar, maple syrup, bourbon, and nutty chocolate. Rich flavors of same; quite sweet with additional oak and caramel malts. Boozy but excellent.

375ml bottle with thanks to boneyardsteve! Pours opaque black, small brown head, dissipates slowly, decent lacing. Aroma is dark sugars, bourbon, vanilla, marshmallow, raisin. Flavor is fully sweet, light plus bitter, decadent, cherries, vanilla, brown sugar. Full body, creamy, fairly low carbonation. Hella good.

Draft pour at Fremont during their release party. One of the first losers on the bottle line equals one of the first winners in the draft line! Took some fun comparison notes in the process, and looking back a month later, I’m still surprised about the low availability of these beers. Midnight dark pour with a fading head. Bourbon heavy, and an almost cinnamon spice cookie aroma. Flavor is dense, creamy, bourbon notes, and no shortage of. Vanilla, chocolate, maple. Has it all really. Overall a fantastic beer, but the amount of wait it’s worth is in question for me. Awesome beer, and the prettier of the two twins if you ask me.
