22oz bottle pours out cola color topped with a sand head. Nose is nice big bourbon barrel notes vanilla toffee sweetness. Taste is more of the nice bourbon barrel notes vanilla toffee some caramel sweetness.

Bottle at Wtf 2. Pours a dark amber with beige head leaving sticky lacing. Aroma is roasted nuts and oak. Medium mouth feel with strong oak roast caramel, candy sugar, boozy finish, very nice.

Bottle thanks to Luke. Pours a clear brown color with a medium white head. A big sour mash whiskey nose. The flavor is big sweet brown sugar, brandy, toffee, oxidation, soft palate.

Bottle. Dark, opaque brown. Sweet aroma, malt and brown sugar. Some oak, vanilla, very sweet with an alcohol burn, and light hops at the end of the sip. Bourbon is very well hidden.

Draft pour at the Brouwers cafe 10th anniversary party. From what I’ve been told, this is the last keg in the world, so I’m very glad I stumbled upon this opportunity to try a great endangered beer. Quite a unique barleywine in my opinion. Thick creamy body to it. Sweet malt aroma. Flavor is sweet as well, but it totally works here. Has some vanilla, bread, and hints of cinnamon. Doesn’t sound too unique from my description, but this beer is truly one of a kind. It’s a shame I will likely never have this beer again, but I’m so glad I found it. Overall a solid barleywine. Loved it.

Bottle @ What the Funk Denver 2014. Pours an orange / copper appearance with a thin light brown head. Rich caramel and toffee nose. Pretty sweet. Some white fruits (apples / pears) in the aroma as well. Fairly boozy and kind of sweet. Body is a touch thin. Lots of caramel and light chocolate. Pretty good but not nearly as good as Bourbon Abominable.

22oz black waxed bomber courtesy of riversideAK, thanks again Alex! This pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up malts and smooth sweet estery prunes and dates and then a pleasing mix of molasses and soft smooth sweet bourbon. Wow! The taste is smooth rich goodness with molasses, malts and then brown sugar stewed prunes and dates and ripe dark red cherries. It then gets into a smooth sweet bourbon goodness as the finish approaches creating a terrific depth and balance to this stellar sipper of a beer. Love it.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe for Big Wood 2013, pours a murky dark mahogany with a one-finger beige head. Aroma of whiskey barrels, some oxidation, caramel and bready malts. Flavour brings out loads of caramel, shitloads of residual sugar, and a little barrel character. Super cloyingly sweet, despite a very complex flavour profile. For my taste, this is way too cloying, but I appreciate the complexity. Leaves a finishing note of aniseed. Way too sweet.
