Bottle. Slight gusher on opening. Pours opaque black, large brown head, creamy with nice lacing. Aroma is funky forward, stale coffee, basement, rotting leaves. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, stale coffee, rotting leaves. Quite tart, funky, rotten. I know GT thinks this is just the product of their Saison yeast, but I call INFECTED, and not in a good way. Medium body, high carbonation.

Keg at the brewery, 08/11/14. Black with a tan covering. Nose is big on coffee grinds, coffee cake, lactic twinges, cocoa rub. Taste comprises more coffee cake, toasted brown sugar, Tiramisu mix, tangy dark fruit rinds. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a funky close. Decent.

750mL bottle, pours black with an amber tinge and a medium tan head. Aroma brings out shitloads of red wine barrels, bringing out loads of tannins from the barrels. Flavour is super red winey, like they blended a stout with a wine. Lightly tart, with not really any stout qualities left. Not a big fan of this to be honest. Too vinous and woody. Meh.

Bottle @ Steve’s Super Bowl party. Thanks Armin! Pours a black appearance with a foamy brown head. A lot of fruit acidity in the nose with a bit of roast and some cookie. Boy, the flavor is again quite acidic, lots of fruit, and a bit of chocolate. Coffee seems so acidic. Light bitterness and sweetness. This one was pretty disappointing.

750 ml bottle from the brewery. Pours a nearly pitch black color with a medium pretty thick brown head. A woody nose of clear wine barrel and coffee. The flavor is slightly tart fruity red wine, yeasty, roasted coffee, some milk. Big barrel and charred wood. An interesting take, not super sour but it’s there. Some chocolate as well. Good brew.
