Tap at Haymarket. Opaque black with a steady beige head. Big American Porter. Oily sweet specialty malt thing going on. They kind of nail it with the self described mandarin orange covered in chocolate. A pretty respectable porter, some odd, chalky edges.

GABF 2013. Pours a black appearance with a thin brown head. Really piney, spicy hoppy, dark chocolate, grapefruity aroma. A touch burnt chocolate malty flavor that is fairly roasty with a hint of smoke and pine.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of roasted malts, with dark grains, chocolate and a hint of dryness. Flavor is heavy with roasted malts and has a bit of chocolate with a dry finish.

4oz pour is a watery, opaque black with a thin, creamy tan head. Sweet, chocolate aroma, toasted breads, crackers, lightly nutty, bread crust. Flavor is sweet, malty, licorice, brown sugar, light coffee grounds, toasted bread, chocolate. Full bodied, lightly sweet but otherwise dry finish.
