Can. Dark brown. Thin head. Lots of bitterness and molasses, coffee all over this as well. Sticky sugars and boozy richness. Got that old school, pre-pastry imperial stout vibe, and I like it.

On tap at Bear Republic - Rohnert Park, pours jet black with a small tan head. Nose is loaded with intense roast, wood, and a fair wallop of resinous hops. Flavour has a lot of depth, with intense roasted malt, lots of wood, and intense piney hops to back. Extremely intense flavour profile, with a lot of wood and roast, finishing almost fruity and somewhat hoppy. Very good.

Keg at the brewpub, Healdsburg, 04/02/16. Pitch black topped with a dirty tan swirl. Nose is rich dark fruits, liquorice, coffee, roast malt, molasses, tar. Taste comprises chocolate sauce, hoppy underpin, roast malt, liquorice, sticky fruit, big malt backbone. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel, boost in the climax. Solid enough impy if a touch sweet and boozey.

Boulder Strong Ale Fest. Dark brown appearance with a small light brown head. Rich licorice, dark chocolate, boozy, woody aroma. Rich, big sugary, black licorice, chocolate, somewhat boozy flavor. A bit thin and a little too boozy for me.
