650ml bottle shared @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki

Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma has notes of liqourice, salmiakki and smoked malts. Taste is quite salty and sweet with notes of liqourice. Long lasting salty and roasty finish. A bit unbalanced, but still enjoyable.

Dark ruby color, small brownish head. Roasted bready, caramel, licorice aroma, Medium-bodied. Ryeish, dark bready color, hops, alcohol. Decent porter, but too much rye bread for my liking.

0.65l bottle, courtesy of and shared with ClubGonzo. Pours a near black body with a small beige bubbly head. Aroma is sweet licorice, nice roasted malts, sweet chocolate, light leather and some bitter hops. Quite full-bodied, it has a thick creamy mouthfeeling and it's softly carbonated. Flavors are chocolate, hops, red currants and dried figs, some licorice and perhaps some thin coffee in the finish? Not a bad porter, but perhaps a bit to far out on the sweet side.

Pours a dark brown with faint ruby highlights and a smallish mocha head that doesn’t stick around very long. Smells of sweet chocolate, brown sugar, faint floral hops. Taste is a roasty chocolaty affair. Faint dark fruits pop up especially as it warms. Medium body, creamy silky mouthfeel, light but ample carbonation. Very tasty Baltic Porter. Kudos to SKA brewing for hooking me up with this fresh bottle after I wrote to them about a possibly infected bottle that I had opened. Great customer service!

22 oz. bomber, bought in 2007. Somewhat of a rough day. What better time to just dust something off from the cellar. Blue waxed cap yields easily enough. No gusher, fortunately. Pours a simple dark brown porter color, with a thin round of bubbles. Sweet malty smell with heavy malts and a nice Kahlua nose, which is welcome for the mood I’m in. Taste is a nice, respectable blend of cocoa and coffee, neither weighing in too strong against the reason for the season: a backing of dark roasted malts that does have a bit of stout bitterness to it. Alcohol taste is not as strong as it was in the nose. But it’s that much more enjoyable. Interesting to find some roastiness after nearly four years, but I’m pleased that this has cellared nicely.

Bottle. Dark brown with a medium tan head. Not the strongest aroma or taste but still a descent beer. Some smoke, licorice, roasted malt and some light coffee. Medium body, easy to drink.
