Brewed with pale, munich, carahell, and 150 degree crystal malts, both malted and unmalted wheat, and wheat flour. Very lightly hopped with uk fuggles and aged in fermentation for ten months with second generation sour belgian yeast blend (a culture we have kept alive for seven years), then in kegs for an additional four months. Pumpkin in the mash and kettle.

Draft pour at Special Brews. Pours a cloudy yellow with a a funky sour aroma. Really nice, slightly tart citrus flavors on this one. Not really getting any pumpkin through on this one, but it’s a good sour overall. Good beer here.

Max’s Taphouse, Baltimore tap: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is vinegar and sugar. I didn’t really get too much pumpkin. I did, however, get a rather pleasant sour ale, with some light sweetness. Maybe there is a little spice, but yeah not too much.

On tap at Falling Rock. Pours with a minimal head over a hazed orange hued body. Aromas are fruity, estery, lightly spicy, grainy and funky. FLavors are lightly sour, cherios (young sour character). Grainy. Medium to light bubbles, cleanly lactic, dry. Seems young.

Cloudy, tan. Acids on the aroma. Pumpkin, spice and a mild tartness define this beer. An odd duck, and not really one that I would want to drink.

GABF 2010 - I was not feeling this one at all - tasted like spontaneously fermented pumpkin puree - a bit of wheaty tang resembling a malt bit, but overall very vegetal, with a kind of funkiness that reminded me more of an unintentional infection than a desired outcome - fuggles in a sour ale? - yea, that bitterness was there, but seemed even more out of place than the funk - a failed experiment for me.

On draught at Falling Rock Tap House in Denver for the 2009 Elysian Pumpkinfest. This brew is a hazy dark amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates to almost nothing quickly. Aroma of sourdough, yeast and mild pumpkin. Medium body with a moderately sour character and flavors of tart fruit, pumpkin and bready malt. The finish is sour at first with a cinnamon bread aftertaste. Pretty good all in all.
